  • FSCJ provides full-time employees with select medical coverage options. Dental and vision coverages are also available.
  • Additionally, for full-time employees, the College provides long-term disability insurance coverage and a life insurance benefit equal to the employee’s annual salary. Supplemental life insurance coverage up to three times the employee’s base salary, at the employee’s cost, is also available.
  • Dependent and spouse/partner medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverages are also available as an additional employee paid premium deduction.
  • Additional supplemental benefit options include a Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account.
  • Vacation time –  Earn between 12-24 days per year of vacation leave time based on employee classification and years of service.
  • Sick leave time – Earn eight (8) hours of sick leave each calendar month of employment.
  • Ten (10) Observed Paid Holidays – New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and Break, Christmas Day.
  • School Breaks – Time off for Winter Break and Spring Break.
  • Summer Schedule – Reduced work week of 36 hours per week.
  • Sick Leave Pool – Employees with a catastrophic emergency/life threatening illness or injury that have depleted all sick leave, may apply for hours from the pool.
  • Courses taken at FSCJ – Full-time employee and their eligible dependents and Part-time employees’ tuition and matriculation fees for course(s) taken at FSCJ shall be waived or reimbursed.
  • Courses taken at a Regionally Accredited College or University – Full-time employees may receive reimbursement for undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Florida Retirement System (FRS) – Full-time and Part-time employees are automatically enrolled in FRS on their first day of employment. FRS has two retirement plans from which employees may choose - the Pension Plan or the Investment Plan. Employees must contribute 3% of their salary, on a pre-tax basis, to FRS.
  • 403(b) & 457(b) Voluntary Savings Plan – Full-time and Regular Part-time employees have the opportunity to save in a 403(b), a 457(b) deferred compensation plan or both.

Effective January 1, 2025, full-time employees are eligible for insurance plans available through the Division of State Group Insurance Program. Through the State Group Insurance Program, College employees and their dependents will have access to:

  • Affordable, high-quality PPO and HMO health insurance options with low premiums (e.g., Standard HMO/PPO monthly premiums: $50 Individual / $180 Family) and low out-of-pocket costs.
  • Discounted health insurance if your spouse also works for a State of Florida agency.
  • The Shared Savings Program which grants members rewards for healthcare services if they use the Healthcare Bluebook website or receive a “bundled” medical service from Surgery Plus.  
  • Savings and Spending Accounts including Flexible Spending Accounts (Healthcare, Limited Purpose, and Dependent Care), Health Spending Accounts (for High Deductible Health Plans), and Health Reimbursement Accounts.
  • A variety of affordable Dental Insurance options to select from including Pre-Paid (similar to a DHMO), PPO, Indemnity, and Indemnity with PPO.
  • Vision insurance covering exam and materials offered at affordable rates.
  • Employer-paid term life insurance valued at $25,000. This policy also includes legal services, legacy planning services, and beneficiary financial counseling.
  • Optional Life Insurance – term life insurance valued between 1x and 7x salary (with a $1,000,000 maximum); dependent spouse term life insurance valued at either $15,000 or $20,000; dependent child term life insurance valued at $10,000.
  • Optional supplemental insurance plans including Accident, Cancer, Short-term Disability, Hospitalization, and Hospital Intensive Care insurance. 

 

Additionally, FSCJ will continue to offer full-time employees the following benefits in 2025:

  • Employer-paid term life insurance valued at 1x base salary through The Hartford. This policy also includes beneficiary assist counseling services, estate guidance, travel assistance and identity theft services.
  • Employer-paid long-term disability insurance through The Hartford.
  • Employee Assistance Program through Health Advocate - counseling and crisis intervention services.
  • Retirement options - Florida Retirement System Pension Plan or Investment Plan; 403(b)/457(b) Deferred Compensation Plans.
  • Professional Development – tuition waivers/reimbursement for courses taken at FSCJ; tuition reimbursement for undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • One Percent Salary Increase - provides a salary increase for full-time employees after the completion of eligible FSCJ courses, approved professional development courses or for degrees earned at a regionally accredited college or university while employed.
  • Paid time off for full-time employees – vacation time, sick leave time, 10 observed holidays, school breaks, 36-hour summer schedule, Sick Leave Pool.
