Community Partner Information

Community partners are essential to helping FSCJ reach its strategic goal of providing relevant and rigorous learning opportunities for students. By building partnerships with community organizations, students are able to contribute to the positive development of our local community, gain valuable skills and learn about themselves.

There are a variety of ways community organizations can participate in this partnership:

  • Provide service-learning opportunities, contact information and requirements for inclusion in our Service-Learning Guide for students. Email the Center to get started.
  • Invite FSCJ staff to conduct a brief site visit of your organization so that we can learn more about what you do and what will be expected of students.
  • Sign a Community Affiliation Agreement, which outlines our mutual roles and responsibilities in the service-learning partnership. Signed agreements are valid for two years.
  • Provide feedback on your experience hosting students through surveys and by participating in community partner meetings.
  • Attend meetings and events that connect community partners with FSCJ faculty to foster future service-learning opportunities.

During Fall and Spring Terms, the Center for Civic Engagement collects data on students involved in service-learning, including the number of hours completed, service-learning course enrollment and the organization with which students worked. We then create data summaries by term that can be shared with our partners to demonstrate impact and results.
