Our Purpose:

ELEVATE is a collaborative program bridging liberal arts and sciences with career and technical education programs. ELEVATE engages college students in meaningful experiences that integrate communication and leadership skills with coursework from these programs. It partners with businesses, public services, and community agencies to create opportunities for career exploration, job shadowing, internships, contextualized learning experiences, and student travel that foster leadership growth and development.

ELEVATE focuses on enhancing the civic literacy and leadership skills of college students as they prepare for careers in the workforce, free enterprise, and leadership roles.

Our Vision

Create supportive and collaborative environments where students are challenged and empowered to enhance their leadership and communication skills while exploring careers in civics, civil and public service, business, and entrepreneurship.

How we started

FSCJ’s Civics Career Academies began as grant-funded partnerships with Polk State College and Broward College. These academies were created to equip high school students with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue leadership roles in public service, government, and community-based organizations, thereby establishing career pathways for these positions. FSCJ proudly collaborates with Duval County Public Schools and Nassau County School District to offer Civics Career Academies at Yulee, Fletcher, and Wolfson High Schools, as well as Stanton College Preparatory School. Students enrolled in these academies complete coursework designed to build a robust foundation in Civics Education, leadership, communication, career research, and prepare for the PMI Public Management Ready™ certification. ELEVATE will continue to provide support to the Civics Career Academies in Duval and Nassau counties.
