    Honors Courses

Honors courses provide a deeper dive into the subject matter. All Honors Program courses will be academically rigorous and, at the faculty’s discretion, may include research projects, leadership opportunities, service-learning components and enrichment activities.

    IDH 2931 Honors in Action

This course focuses on personal, academic, career, and leadership development for A.A. Honors students. By introducing students to metacognition, critical thinking, information literacy, and research, the course teaches advanced academic skills to prepare for success in college, career and life. This course also promotes deep knowledge of the Florida State College at Jacksonville A.A. Honors Program experience by exploring multiple fields of study and the ways in which courses from different disciplines interact to form a liberal arts and sciences education. Special emphasis is placed on active learning and collaboration as students grapple with complex issues and develop an actionable research project with a service-learning focus. This course will substitute for the IDS 1107 requirement at FSCJ.

    Service Learning

Honors students directly impact the Jacksonville community by participating in meaningful service-learning activities with local non-profit partners.

For more information on service-learning, visit the FSCJ Center for Civic Engagement.

    Honors ePortfolio

The Honors e-Portfolio serves as an archive of your academic work and provides you with several opportunities to reflect on your experience as a student, emerging scholar, future professional, and engaged citizen. Additionally, the e-portfolio can serve as a robust resource to help you apply for scholarships, assist in your transfer to a baccalaureate program, apply for internships, or enter the workforce.
