Nursing (B.S.N.)

What is a BSN degree? The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree program prepares practicing nurses for evidence-based care and leadership roles in nursing. The bachelor’s nursing program emphasizes nursing school requirements such as critical thinking, cultural sensitivity and professional collaboration in the management of care for individuals, families and the community. In addition, the nursing program features:

  • The fully online post-licensure BSN program allows you to earn a nursing degree from FSCJ while continuing to work
  • Online course delivery options to facilitate student access and flexibility
  • Doctorally prepared faculty who continue professional nursing practice within the community

Students must obtain a valid RN license by the second Term of enrollment in the BSN program.

Upon completion of the degree, students will be prepared to provide, design, manage and coordinate health care for increasing complex patients, families and communities.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree program is the first FSCJ program to offer the Global Scholars Distinction program, a research-based approach to internationalizing education through globally focused coursework as well as campus and community-based learning activities and experience, to its students.

This evidence-based program is dedicated to helping students apply an international lens to their education. This unique resume credential can serve to distinguish a professional nurse in today’s competitive global job market. Students who fulfill the Global Scholars Distinction requirements will receive:

  • A printed certificate from FSCJ and the University of North Carolina World View
  • A designation on their FSCJ transcript
  • Special recognition at graduation
  • A Global Scholars medallion
  • A digital badge

In addition to these tangible benefits, students who participate in the program will acquire new global perspectives, enhance their ability to develop intercultural relationships, improve their problem-solving skills and think creatively. To earn the distinction, students must

  • Successfully complete the BSN program
  • Participate in eight global activities on campus
  • Complete a 10-15 minute capstone presentation at the end of the BSN program

Each person enrolled in the BSN program course is automatically enrolled in the Global Scholars Distinction program. This is a great opportunity that may help further employment. To learn more contact global@fscj.edu
