Nursing Assistant Training (CNA)

The FSCJ Nursing Assistant (CNA) program prepares you to start a rewarding career as a nursing assistant. Through the use of live instructor and hands-on training, you will receive the necessary skills to start a career in the nursing profession and sit for the Florida Board of Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification exam. 

Our Nursing Assistant (CNA) program is broken up into two individual component courses. Students must complete both courses to receive their FSCJ Certificate of Completion for the program and to sit for the State of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant Certification Exam.

Basic Healthcare Worker (Healthcare Foundations) - CCE 0796  (Price: $429):

Basic Healthcare Worker course should be completed before enrolling in the Nursing Assistant course. 

This 5-week course is an introduction to the healthcare environment, students training will focus on the healthcare team and delivery systems. You will learn and discuss topics including legal responsibilities, ethical issues, safety and security, information technology applications in healthcare, emergencies, infection control, communication, interpersonal behaviors, employability skills, blood-borne diseases, wellness, disease, and basic math and science.

Nursing Assistant - HED 0101 (Price: $799):

This 5-week course trains students in the overall concept of being a nursing assistant. The content addressed in this course prepares you to work with people of various ages and cultures and establishes a foundation of basic skills that extends the student's understanding of their role in healthcare. The course includes interactive activities, simulated laboratory experiences, and hands-on experience in a designated clinical setting. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to sit for the Florida Board of Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam.

The course includes a 40-hour "off-site" clinical rotation at the end of the course. Students will have the option of using a FSCJ Designated Site for their required clinical or finding their own clinical site.

Course Availability: Classes are available during the Spring, Summer, and Fall terms.

Deadline Information: You can find the deadline dates for each class on your student schedule, accessible by logging into your MyFSCJ Student Center.

Enrollment Policy: Please be aware that this class might be canceled if the minimum number of participants is not reached.

Online Course Materials (eBook & Course Software):  Students are only required to purchase a Cengage Unlimited subscription for this course. You can purchase the Cengage Unlimited (4 months) subscription (with MindTap and WebAssign) through Cengage here.

Scrubs: One pair of Galaxy or Navy-Blue scrubs.

Florida Board of Nursing CNA Exam Requirements

  • U.S. citizen or legal immigrant
  • At least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED®
  • Undergo a Background & Drug Screening Check

FSCJ Installment Payments (Student Account): Upon registration for the program students are allowed to submit installment payments of any amount up to 48 hours before the start of the class (NOTE: Total course must be paid 48 hours before the start of class)
