At a luncheon on March 6, Herb Babin and FSCJ were honored with a Patriot Award by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) group, an office of the Department of Defense.

This award recognizes supervisors and managers nominated by a Guardsman or Reservist employee for support provided directly to the nominator. Members of the Guard and Reserve components can submit for recognition employers who they feel have gone above and beyond in support of the Guard or Reserve.

Herb Babin was nominated for this award by Petty Officer Sethia Daigle, a member of the Naval Reserve, who was hired by the College as the administrative assistant for the San Diego Navy Instructor Services Contract, which ended in September 2014 after three years in operation. Petty Officer Daigle was hired in San Diego by Herb Babin, manager of the Navy contracts. According to Petty Officer Daigle, Herb coordinated with the College and ensured full support of her reserve obligations throughout her employment.  According to Herb, Petty Officer Daigle was a very impressive applicant and performed in exemplary fashion throughout her time with the College and her work was frequently complimented by the Navy contract manager.
