Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) students, faculty and staff participated in #GivingTuesday on December 3, 2019. Representing the College, 120 volunteers set out to support five different nonprofit organizations throughout the city: Celestial Farms, Farm Share, Feeding Northeast Florida, Jacksonville Humane Society and Tiger Academy.
In addition, food and monetary donations were accepted to benefit
FSCJ’s H.O.P.E. Food Pantry. In total, donations totaled nearly 1,100 pounds of food and $4,396, which combined equates to 5,679 meals to serve our students’ most basic needs.
#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they care about most.
