FSCJ is closed for Winter Break, Thursday, December 19-Tuesday, December 31, 2024, and New Year’s Day on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. The College will reopen Thursday, January 2, 2025.
The Administrative & Professional Collaborative (APC) is the representative voice for the Administrative & Professional employees of FSCJ. In an effort to build cohesiveness, awareness and collegiality, each month we put a “spotlight” on one of our members.
Educational Technology Specialist Jody Taylor supports faculty in the training and implementation of online learning tools. She is currently leading the development of a Canvas Mastery Certificate program at FSCJ and is playing a key role in the rollout of the College's new syllabus-building tool, Simple Syllabus. Her other responsibilities include assisting in the management of the Canvas learning management system and writing for the IT department blog, sharing insights on the latest educational tools.
Before joining FSCJ in 2022, Jody held various roles at UNF, including Academic Advisor, English Instructor and Budget Coordinator. She holds a master's degree in English from UNF and a master's degree in music from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Jody’s interdisciplinary background has proven valuable in adapting to the evolving educational landscape, including the recent advancements in AI. Jody is an active member of the Florida AI Consortium (FALCON), contributing to AI education and literacy. This year, Jody presented her research at three major conferences: the Educause Online Conference, discussing the benefits and challenges of AI detection tools; the Derrida Today Conference, exploring the philosophical implications of AI and assessment; and InstructureCon 2024, where she co-presented with FSCJ colleague Thomas Lewis on Intelligent Insights, a new analytics tool that promotes student success and course readiness.
Outside of her work life, Jody cherishes time with her husband, daughter and cat. She’s an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, highly recommending The Broken Earth trilogy by N.K. Jemisin. In her downtime, she also enjoys playing video games like Elden Ring and The Legend of Zelda.
Our spotlight shines on each campus/center at least once a year. Nominations for the spotlight may be directed to your campus representative or any officer. Learn more about APC on our website, http://blogs.fscj.edu/apcollaborative.
