Radiation Therapy (A.S.)
The Associate in Science (A.S.) in Radiation Therapy degree prepares students to become certified radiation therapists who administer radiation treatments to patients with a cancer diagnosis.
The radiation therapy program is based on the recommended core curriculum established by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, providing FSCJ students with an enhanced educational experience and employment potential in hospitals or freestanding clinics.
Graduates from FSCJ’s Radiation Therapy associate degree program must sit and pass the National Registry examination for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Career-Ready Curriculum
The A.S. in Radiation Therapy degree is a 77 credit hour program that emphasizes, through comprehensive radiation therapist classes, the art and science of treatment delivery to individuals to restore, improve, and enhance patient performance. The curriculum also focuses on building skills that help to diminish or eradicate pathology in order to promote and maintain health.
Students take general education coursework in science, mathematics, humanities, and social and behavioral sciences and build upon that foundation through advanced professional coursework that targets radiation therapy knowledge. Clinical coursework provides hands-on learning experiences assisting patients in healthcare settings.

Upon completion of this two-year degree program, graduates are eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) board examination in Radiation Therapy. Graduates of the Radiation Therapy degree who successfully complete the ARRT examination can begin a rewarding career as a certified radiation therapist working directly with cancer patients.

Program Notice
Admission Requirements
New cohorts for the A.S. in Radiation Therapy degree begin in the fall of even numbered years. Students interested in applying must submit the following requirements to be considered for admission:
High school diploma or high school equivalent
Completed Radiation Therapy program application by May 15 deadline
Official college transcripts (if applicable)
ENC1101 or ENC 1101C, MAC1105 or higher-level MAC-prefix course or STA 2023, BSC2085C, BSC 2086C, PHY 1020C and HSC 1531 courses must be completed before applying to the program. The general education social science and humanities courses must be completed before the program begins.
