JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) was named as one of the 2024 Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges by National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) and Diverse: Issues In Higher Education (Diverse). This is the third time FSCJ has received this award in four years.

The annual award recognizes community and technical colleges committed to diversity through best-in-class student and staff recruitment and retention practices, inclusive learning and working environments, and meaningful community service and engagement opportunities. The national study employs a web-based survey approach to obtain information from NISOD member institutions.

“As the community’s college, FSCJ is committed to building and supporting initiatives that enhance the future for the communities and individuals throughout our expansive service area,” said College President Dr. John Avendano. “We are honored to receive this award because it represents the great pride our faculty and staff take in their work and in furthering our mission.”

The winning institutions will be recognized in May during NISOD’s International Conference of Teaching and Leadership Excellence in Austin, Texas. To learn more about the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges awards, visit nisod.org/mppwcc.
